Brownell Slay, 92, of Ridgeland, passed from this life Saturday, April 30, 2016 at MS Baptist Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Mendenhall, Burial will be in Georgetown Cemetery. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Mendenhall is in charge of arrangements, (601)847-4401.

 
Ms. Slay was married on December 22, 1946 to the late Frank Slay, Jr. and after she was married, she received a bachelors in education and a minor in music both from Millsap’s College. Her first teaching job was in Pickens and she would later teach in Mendenhall. She retired after forty-three years of teaching. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Mendenhall, where she also played piano and sang in the choir. Ms. Slays hobbies included gardening, crocheting, knitting, quilting, reading and cherished spending time with her twin great grandchildren.

 
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Mendenhall in Mendenhall.

 
Ms. Slay is survived by her Grand Child – Heidi Summers (Sean of Canton; great grandchildren – Sailor Grace Summers and Colby Ellis Summers; brother – James Ailias Maxwell (Doris) of Georgetown, brother-in-law – Louis Mickey Slay (Doloris) of WV, sister-in-law – Emily Slay of Mendenhall; son-in-laws – Henry G. May and Michael Fullam,

 
Ms Slay is preceded in death by her husband – Frank Slay , Jr.,; Daughter – Dawn Slay Fullam; father – Ailias Maxwell, mother – Eva Brown Maxwell,
