QUESTIONS
As we enter the Easter season, I ask myself some disturbing questions and I thought these same questions might help others to keep our perspective in these crazy time.
Many Bible giants were tested and endured many hardships, and I wonder if I would pass the tests that so many of them endured. As I read about Jesus and his followers that walked with Him daily and heard Him speak, I ask myself the following questions:
Would I gossip about Mary when she became pregnant?
Would I believe as quickly as the shepherds when they heard the Angels?
Would I believe John the Baptist if I heard him preach?
Would John or Peter be welcomed in today’s churches?
Would I react any better that Peter if I had seen Jesus arrested and crucified?
Would I have the doubts that Thomas had when he saw the risen Savior?
Would I be in the crowd that threw stones at Stephen?
I had a conversation with Daddy many years ago about our churches and he posed the question: “how many church members would recognize Jesus if he came down the aisle and preached?” That thought has stayed with me for all of the 43 years since he died, and it is still valid today.
I don’t have the answers to these questions but I am striving daily to find the right answer!
“A voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him. Every valley shall be filled in, every mountain and hill made low. The crooked roads shall become straight, rough ways smooth. And all people will see God’s Salvation.’ ”Luke 3:4-6
