CHAMBER OF COMMERCE BRINGS BIG

CHANGES TO CRAZY DAY

MAGEE, MS — This year, the Magee Chamber of Commerce, fueled by new leadership and an influx of “new blood” onto the Board of Directors is making a large effort to bring about positive changes to the city and to our annual Crazy Day Arts & Crafts Festival. The first of many changes is the move of Crazy Day. In an effort to combat mid September heat, the board has moved the festival to October, 22, 2016 in hopes of cool fall breezes and even cooler Autumn nights. You can still look forward to the major staples; the Antique Car Show, Kids Jump Zone, local entertainment throughout the day, great shopping, and even better food; but there will also be some new sights to see this year.

The Chamber board has been extremely active in the process of new vendor recruitment, attending various festivals around the state, including the Okatoma Festival and the Canton Flea Market, to reach out to potential vendors in hopes of bringing some variety to the shopping on the streets for Crazy Day. The Board has also sent representatives to various Food Truck events in the Jackson area in hopes of recruiting some new and different cuisine to the festival and has had some success in signing several up! Another change will be the addition of local vendors into the mix of goods for sale during Crazy Day. Local shop owners who are members of the Chamber are being granted free booth spaces in hopes of bringing more of them into the Crazy Day mix to help promote their businesses to both local shoppers and those visiting from out of town.

In addition to new vendors, new food options and a new time of year, the board is also bringing in some first class entertainment. Mustache The Band has been secured to play at the end of the day to wrap up the festival. Mustache The Band is the 90’s Country Party Band that’ll grow on you. Mustache The Band delivers a powerful performance of all of the favorite country hits from the 1990’s. With over 80 songs under their buckles, you are guaranteed to have a non-stop party on your hands. Mustache The Band will take you on a journey back into the 90s’: Back when sleeveless tanks, high tops, two paneled button downs, and mustaches rule country music. Mustache The Band is all about the attitude. In order to set the tone at every show, the fans are provided with mustaches. If the crowd is ready to get down on the farm, then Mustache The Band will take them there. Mustache The Band is based out of Oxford, MS and most recently has played in venues such as the Flora Bama, the Library of Oxford and the Neshoba County Fair.

It is the Board’s hope that these new changes will attract more people to Crazy Day and draw a larger out of town crowd than has ever been seen at the 41 year old, downtown festival.
