Confidence

I assisted in the 3rd and 4th grade class at Vacation Bible School this week and had a wonderful time!!   The lessons were on Joseph and how God used him to accomplish great things. As my daughter taught the class, our 14 kids that came thru our class listened attentively, even as they wiggled and squirmed!!

(All of them full of energy). They concluded that Joseph had some really mean brothers and had a tough time!

There are many lessons to be taught by Joseph and his experiences, but I love the confidence that he had in his Lord! After being sold by his brothers, enslaved by his owners, taken to a foreign land and betrayed and thrown in a dungeon for years, Joseph believed that God had a plan for his life!! As the story unfolds, Joseph remains faithful to God and is blessed beyond his wildest dreams.

How many of us have the confidence in our Lord that we tried to teach to these children? How many of us have had health troubles or lost dear loved ones in an untimely fashion? Have you had money problems? Have you been betrayed by friends and co-workers? Do you feel you have done everything that is expected and more and yet you have been passed over for a promotion? Have you lost your job because of the economy?

I am sure most of us have suffered some if not all of these trials. How do we handle the slings and arrows of life? Just as Joseph suffered for more than 20 years as a slave, he never lost sight of the God he served! God blessed him in the midst of his troubles. May we all remember our God is faithful!!

“I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging for bread.” Psalm 37:25

“For the Lord loves the just and will not forsake his faithful ones.” Psalm 37:28
